“I only see clearly what I remember”

In this Post I have a treat for you, Cassandra Reilly the very talent artist i collaborated with, on the needle is always at hand, who made the beautiful shoes showing the three stages of Fanny Brawnes life in Wentworth Place now Keats House, has agreed to let me share some of her new work.

Cassandra has designed a new range of bags, shoes and baby clothes, which are now for sale in selected boutiques in New York. Much like myself, Cassandra is process driven. Her work is highly attuned to the sensory experience of both making and wearing.

Although her work is designed to be experienced in person, i think some of the haptic experience of her work comes across in these photos.

I have chosen to juxtapose these photos with some quotes from Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who is a big influence on her work and on whom Cassandra is somewhat of an authority.

“To be something, to be himself, and always at one with himself, a man must act as he speaks, must know what course he ought to take, and must follow that course with vigour and persistence. When I meet this miracle it will be time enough to decide whether he is a man or a citizen, or how he contrives to be both”

cass9“Since I possessed an imagination rich enough to adorn its fantasies any condition in life and powerful enough to transport me- it did not matter where I found myself ”

“Our affections as well as our bodies are in perpetual flux”

“The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless”

“I have always said and felt that true enjoyment can not be described”

“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet”

“The person who has lived the most is not the one with the most years but the one with the richest experiences”

As you can imagine I look forward to working with Cassandra again in the near future and I hope to keep you updated on her work.

We last met when i was in Atlanta in June last year, when we met in the most beautiful surroundings…

I can still smell these flowers, when I see this picture!
